If your house is damaged, we'll pay to have it repaired or rebuilt to a condition as similar as possible to when it was new.
If the damage is uneconomic to repair, you have other options available. These include rebuilding on another site you provide, buying another home, or taking a cash settlement. For these options, we’ll pay up to the amount we would have paid to rebuild on your current property, and some costs may not be payable unless they are actually incurred.
If the damage is uneconomic to repair and you sell your property before rebuilding begins, we'll pay up to the market value plus demolition and removal costs.

If you can't live in your house because of damage covered by this policy, we'll pay up to $20,000 for a maximum of 12 months for alternative accommodation for your family and your pets while it's being repaired.
You will only have to pay an excess of $250 per event on a claim that is solely for the accidental breakage of a window, bathroom fitting or fixed glass lampshade.
Echelon cover extends to any part of your home used as a home office.
We’ll cover your legal liability if you accidentally damage someone else’s property or if you accidentally injure somebody, anywhere in New Zealand in relation to your home ownership. Provided you check with us first, we may also cover your legal fees.
You can choose to add an optional benefit to cover the use of your home by tenants. This will protect your home from intentional damage, theft or loss of rent.
Echelon Home cover provides many more benefits. These include gradual damage of up to $3,000 per year to your home caused by water leaking from an internal water pipe or tank, a stress payment of up to $2000 if your home is totally destroyed, and limited cover for a new structure being built on your property.
We also provide up to $15,000 towards the additional cost of using sustainable building materials if you have to rebuild your home after a total loss.
